Journey of Citizens' Education Society
We started in 1904
Post-independence, farming, fishing, and salt harvesting were the primary means of livelihood for the local residents of Uran and its neighboring hamlets. Recognizing the transformative power of education, a group of visionary thinkers and entrepreneurs from Uran took a bold step towards shaping a brighter future. In 1963, they established the Citizens Education Society with the mission of creating a structured and accessible education system that would unlock opportunities for generations to come.
In 1904-1964
What started as just two classrooms in a humble private house, graciously donated by a visionary founding patron, has grown into a thriving, full-fledged educational institution, shaping countless futures along the way. Citizens Education Society stands as a beacon of academic excellence, proudly offering education from Junior KG to Grade 10. (SSC Board)
In 2003-
After completing their SSC, students of Uran had to travel to Panvel or Navi Mumbai to pursue their HSC education. Recognizing the challenges faced by these students, the Citizens Education Society took a transformative step in 2003 by establishing the Junior College of Arts, Commerce, Science, and IT, bringing quality higher education closer to home.
In 2024-2025
In the academic year 2024-25, we expanded our legacy by establishing the Citizens Education Society’s Arts, Commerce, Science, and BSc Information Technology College, affiliated with the prestigious University of Mumbai, further broadening opportunities for aspiring students.
With a vibrant student community of 1,491 and a dedicated team of 40 staff members, we continue to uphold our unwavering commitment to academic excellence and holistic development. At Citizens Education Society, our mission remains steadfast—to empower students with knowledge, skills, and opportunities that shape their future, guiding them toward success and prosperity
An educational system isn't worth a great deal if it teaches young people how to make a living but doesn't teach them how to make a life.
